Pregnancy Stages by Trimester
First Trimester (Weeks 1-12): Your baby's heart, brain, spinal cord, and major organs begin forming. You may experience morning sickness, fatigue, and breast tenderness. The baby grows from a fertilized egg to about 3 inches long.
Second Trimester (Weeks 13-27): Many women feel better during this period. Your baby can hear sounds, suck their thumb, and move around. The baby grows from 4 inches to about 14 inches, and you'll likely feel the first kicks.
Third Trimester (Weeks 28-40): Your baby's lungs mature and they gain weight rapidly. You may feel uncomfortable as the baby grows larger. By week 40, your baby is about 20 inches long and weighs 6-9 pounds, ready for birth.
