Sleep Calculator
Calculate the best time to go to sleep or wake up based on 90-minute sleep cycles. Waking up at the end of a sleep cycle helps you feel more refreshed and alert.
Understanding Sleep Cycles
Sleep occurs in cycles of about 90 minutes each. Each cycle includes light sleep, deep sleep, and REM (dream) sleep. You typically complete 4-6 cycles per night.
The key to feeling refreshed is waking up at the end of a sleep cycle, when sleep is lightest. Waking during deep sleep (middle of a cycle) causes grogginess and sleep inertia.
Our calculator adds time to fall asleep (about 14 minutes) and then calculates optimal sleep/wake times based on complete 90-minute cycles.

Tips for Better Sleep
- ✓
Consistent Schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This regulates your body's internal clock.
- ✓
Limit Screens: Avoid phones, tablets, and computers for at least 1 hour before bed. Blue light suppresses melatonin production.
- ✓
Keep It Cool: Optimal sleep temperature is 65-68°F (18-20°C). A cool room promotes better sleep.
- ✓
Avoid Caffeine: Stop consuming caffeine at least 6-8 hours before bedtime. Caffeine can stay in your system for 10+ hours.
